*Rough estimate from a normal approximation at medium slot volatility. High-volatility slots push probability down and tail size up.
Free spins carry no risk to your deposit; value comes from the tail (one big hit) rather than the average.

Assumes 96.5% RTP slots for clearing, 1%-edge Originals for rakeback volume, free spins at CA$0.20. BC.Game modelled on first-stage 180% with unlock-as-you-wager (counted at 25% of headline for a CA$3k month).
What "expected value" means for a casino bonus
The expected value (EV) of a bonus is the bonus amount minus the expected cost of the wagering needed to unlock it, plus any rakeback recovered along the way. It is the average outcome across many players taking the same offer. A positive EV means the bonus is, on average, worth more than it costs to clear; a negative EV means the casino expects to keep more than it gave — which is normal, and why variance (the chance of a big hit) is the real reason to take most matches.
EV = bonus − (bonus × wagering × house edge) + rakeback
Three ways to use this page
- Deposit match tab — enter any offer's terms and your deposit. Add the rakeback rate if the site pays rakeback on bonus play (Rainbet does with BOOST20). The "chance to finish ahead" line is a rough normal-approximation estimate; treat it as directional.
- Free spins tab — value a spins offer by count, bet, RTP and wagering on winnings. The "big hit" line is the probability that at least one spin in the batch pays 50x or more, using a typical Pragmatic Play hit distribution.
- All 9 codes tab — type your planned deposit and expected monthly wagering, and the table ranks every code we track by first-month expected value. This is the fastest way to see whether a 200% match (Shuffle) or a 100% match with rakeback and spins (Rainbet) suits your numbers.
What the model does not capture
- Variance. Bonuses on volatile slots have a wide spread of outcomes; the EV is the centre, not the typical result.
- Max-bet rules and restricted games, which can void a bonus if ignored.
- Staged unlocks. BC.Game's package is modelled conservatively because the amount you receive depends on volume.
- Your own behaviour. The best bonus is the one you will actually clear within its expiry on games you enjoy.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the EV of most deposit matches negative?
Because 35x wagering at a 3.5% edge costs 1.225x the bonus in expectation. Matches are still worth taking for variance — the real chance of a large win — and when rakeback or high-RTP games lower the clearing cost.
Which code has the highest EV for a CA$300 deposit?
Use the 'All 9 codes' tab. At CA$300 and moderate wagering Rainbet's BOOST20 usually leads because the rakeback boost and spins offset the clearing cost; Shuffle's 200% is close behind.
Does rakeback count toward bonus EV?
Yes when it is paid on bonus play. Rainbet pays rakeback on all wagering including bonus funds; some sites exclude bonus play — check.
How accurate is the 'chance to finish ahead' figure?
It is a normal approximation at medium volatility — good for comparing offers, not for predicting your session.
