Casino Bonus Terms Explained: Wagering, Contribution, Max Bet, Expiry and the Traps

Every crypto casino bonus page has a "terms apply" link. Behind it is a document that decides whether a CA$500 bonus is worth CA$400 or nothing. The clauses are standard across the industry; once you know the dozen that matter, you can evaluate any offer quickly.

1. Wagering requirement (playthrough, rollover)

The total you must bet before bonus funds and their winnings become withdrawable, expressed as a multiple. "35x bonus" on a CA$200 bonus is CA$7,000. "35x deposit + bonus" on a CA$200 deposit with a CA$200 bonus is CA$14,000 — the same words, double the obligation. This is the first thing to check. Our wagering calculator handles both.

2. Game contribution

How much of each bet counts toward wagering. Slots are usually 100%; Originals, live casino, table games and video poker are often 10% or excluded. Sports bets rarely count. A player who clears a bonus on Plinko is effectively facing a 350x requirement.

3. Maximum bet

The largest stake allowed while a bonus is active — typically CA$5–7 equivalent per spin or round, sometimes expressed as a percentage of the bonus. Exceeding it is the most common reason bonuses are voided. The rule exists to stop players betting the whole bonus in one spin to skip wagering.

4. Maximum cashout / win cap

A ceiling on what can be withdrawn from bonus winnings, often 5x–10x the bonus. A CA$100 bonus with a 10x cap means a CA$5,000 hit converts to CA$1,000. Common on free spins and no-deposit offers; less common on large deposit matches, but check.

5. Expiry

Time to complete wagering — 7 to 30 days for matches, 24–72 hours to use free spins. Unused bonus is removed along with winnings derived from it.

6. Restricted and excluded games

Some high-RTP slots (Blood Suckers, Jackpot 6000, certain Hacksaw titles) and all buy-feature rounds are frequently excluded from bonus play because they clear wagering cheaply. Playing an excluded game with bonus funds can void the bonus.

7. Minimum deposit and deposit method

The smallest deposit that qualifies, in crypto equivalent. Some sites exclude deposits via certain on-ramps or coins from bonus eligibility; LTC, USDT and BTC are always safe.

8. One bonus at a time

Most sites allow one active bonus. A reload or race prize may not be claimable until the welcome bonus is cleared or forfeited.

9. Withdrawal with an active bonus

Requesting a withdrawal usually forfeits the active bonus and its winnings. Your original deposit is returned minus any losses. Staged bonuses (Shuffle, BC.Game) avoid this by never locking the deposit.

10. Bonus abuse and irregular play

Clauses covering: multiple accounts, bet patterns designed to clear wagering with minimal risk (e.g. low-risk roulette coverage, hedging across accounts), bonus-hunting across linked sites, and VPN use to bypass restrictions. Breaching these forfeits the bonus and often the balance. Honest play on one account per site never triggers them.

11. Rakeback and cashback exclusions

Rakeback may be paid at reduced rates on live casino and sports, and cashback may exclude bonus wagering. Both are detailed on the site's rewards page rather than the bonus T&C.

12. KYC and withdrawal limits
