The coin you deposit with affects three things: what you pay in network fees, how long you wait, and whether your bankroll is worth the same in Canadian dollars when you withdraw. None of these has anything to do with the games. Choose the coin for the plumbing.

Our recommendations
For a fixed bankroll in dollar terms: USDT on TRC-20 or USDC on Solana. A stablecoin removes the question of whether BTC fell 4% while you were playing. The USD peg still drifts against CAD, but by fractions of a percent, not whole percents. Nearly every Canadian exchange sells USDT; Kraken and Newton support TRC-20 and Solana withdrawals.
For simplicity: Litecoin. Available on every exchange including Shakepay, cheap, fast, universally accepted. The price moves, but less violently than SOL or DOGE.
For speed above all: SOL. Sub-second settlement and negligible fees. Volatile, so withdraw to a stablecoin or CAD promptly.
Avoid for small amounts: BTC, ETH mainnet, ERC-20 tokens. Fees can exceed CA$10 at busy times, which on a CA$50 deposit is a 20% tax before you have placed a bet.
Network selection is the whole game
The most expensive mistake in crypto gambling is sending a token on the wrong network — USDT-ERC20 to a TRC-20 address, or SOL to an Ethereum address. The casino's deposit page always shows the network; the exchange withdrawal page asks you to choose it. They must match. If a casino lists only "USDT" without a network, ask support before sending.
Volatility and your bankroll
Suppose you deposit CA$500 of SOL and play to CA$550 over a week. If SOL fell 10% in that week, you withdraw CA$495 — a winning session that lost money. If it rose 10%, you withdraw CA$605. For most players this noise is unwelcome; stablecoins eliminate it. For players who are long crypto anyway, holding the bankroll in SOL or BTC is a choice, not a mistake — just a separate one from gambling.
Fees inside the casino
None of the nine brands we track charges a deposit fee. Withdrawal fees are generally the network fee only; a few add a small flat fee on BTC. Check the Wallet page — it is displayed before you confirm.
Bonus eligibility
Every coin above qualifies for the welcome bonuses on our bonuses page. Some sites exclude deposits via on-site card on-ramps from bonus eligibility; direct crypto deposits always qualify.
