Crypto casinos are lighter on identity checks than regulated Canadian sites — you can register with an email and deposit immediately — but every reputable brand verifies identity at some point, usually before a large withdrawal. Knowing when and what to expect avoids the most frustrating experience in crypto gambling: a big win stuck behind a document request.
When KYC is triggered
| Brand | Typical trigger | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Rainbet | Cumulative withdrawals ≈ CA$2,500+ or risk flag | Basic (ID) → Advanced (address) |
| Stake | Level 2 required for fiat features; crypto withdrawals above thresholds | Levels 1–4 |
| Roobet | Withdrawal review on larger amounts | Basic → Full |
| Shuffle | ≈ CA$5,000 cumulative or risk flag | Basic → Advanced |
| Gamdom | Large withdrawal or bonus-related review | ID + address |
| BC.Game | First large withdrawal; often early | ID + selfie |
| Coins.Game | Threshold-based | ID + address |
| Duel | Threshold-based | ID |
| Thrill | Threshold-based | ID |
Thresholds move; the pattern is consistent. Bonus-related play (clearing a large match, free-spin wins) raises the chance of an early review.
Documents accepted
- Identity: Canadian passport, provincial driver's licence, provincial photo ID card, PR card.
- Address: utility bill, bank statement, government letter — dated within 90 days, showing name and address. A screenshot of online banking is usually accepted if it shows the address.
- Selfie / liveness: a photo holding the ID, or an in-browser liveness check (Sumsub, Veriff).
- Source of funds (rare, high tiers): exchange statements showing the crypto purchase.
How long it takes
Automated checks (Sumsub/Veriff) clear in minutes. Manual reviews take a few hours to two days. Weekends are slower. Our test accounts averaged 40 minutes for basic verification across the nine brands.
Pre-verifying: the move that saves you days
You can complete verification before you need it, at every brand, under Settings → Verification. Do it once the account is open. Then a win on a Saturday night withdraws on Saturday night.
Privacy
Documents go to a verification provider that stores them under the casino's compliance obligations. Use the casino's upload form, never email or chat attachments. Enable 2FA. Do not share documents with "support" that contacts you first — the brands we list never initiate document requests by DM.
Common reasons for rejection
- Blurry photo, cut-off edges, glare on the ID.
- Address document older than 90 days or not showing the full address.
- Name mismatch between account and ID (fix the account name with support first).
- Using a VPN during the liveness check.
Age and province
KYC confirms you are 19+ (18+ in AB, MB, QC) and resident in a province the casino serves. Registering with false details voids the account and balance at every brand — it is the one thing not worth doing.
