Mines is a 5×5 grid hiding a chosen number of mines. Reveal tiles one by one; each safe tile multiplies your bet, and you can cash out at any point. Hit a mine and the bet is lost. Limbo is Crash without the animation: pick a target multiplier, and a number is generated — if it is at or above your target, you win target × bet.
Mines: the combinatorics
With m mines on 25 tiles, the chance the first tile is safe is (25 − m)/25; the second, (24 − m)/24; and so on. The fair multiplier after k safe reveals is the inverse of the probability of surviving k reveals; the casino multiplies that by 0.99 to take its 1%.
Examples (3 mines):
| Safe reveals | Survival probability | Multiplier (99% RTP) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 88.0% | 1.13× |
| 3 | 67.0% | 1.48× |
| 5 | 49.9% | 1.98× |
| 10 | 19.3% | 5.13× |
| 15 | 4.6% | 21.5× |
| 22 (all) | 0.43% | 227× |
With 1 mine, clearing all 24 tiles pays about 24.75× at 4% survival; with 24 mines, the single safe tile pays 24.75× at 4% — the game is symmetric in an elegant way. Every path has the same 99% expected return; mine count and cash-out point only set the variance.
Mines strategy, honestly
- Fixed reveal count. Decide in advance (say, 5 safe tiles at 3 mines ≈ 2×) and cash out every time. Identical to dice at 49.9%.
- Low mines, many reveals vs high mines, few reveals — same EV, different feel. High-mine games are faster and swingier.
- Pattern picking (corners, edges) does nothing — mine placement is a uniform shuffle from the seeds.
- Auto-play with a stop-loss keeps sessions bounded.
Limbo: the distribution
Limbo's result follows the same distribution as Crash: the probability the result reaches at least m× is 0.99/m. Target 2×: 49.5% win chance, pays 2×. Target 1,000×: 0.099%, pays 1,000×. The site caps targets (often at 1,000,000×) and the result is derived directly from the seeds, with an instant 1.00× result 1% of the time.
Limbo is faster than Crash (no animation) and is the cleanest way to run high-target lottery sessions: CA$0.10 at 500× for an hour costs about CA$360 of wagering... and will hit roughly every 505 rounds.
Where these games fit for bonus players
Both count 10% toward wagering at nearly every casino — play them with real balance. Both are ideal for rakeback because the edge is only 1%: Thrill's 70% ceiling turns Mines into a 0.3% game; Rainbet's BOOST20 and Gamdom's 15BOOST apply to both. See the rakeback calculator.
Verifying
Mines and Limbo results at Stake, Rainbet, Shuffle, Gamdom, Duel and Thrill are derived via HMAC-SHA512 from server seed, client seed and nonce; the fairness panel lets you recompute any round after rotating seeds. Our provably fair guide walks through it.
